Home Remedies to Get Rid of Spiders
Just because you have never experienced any issue with a spider doesn’t mean all species of these insects are harmless. Maybe you perceive them as ‘harmless’ simply because you have never spent the same room together. Quite honestly, these eight-legged organisms can be a huge source of misery, and you may pay for it dearly.
A spider being dangerous isn’t something new. There are several breeds, like the giant black widow spider or brown recluse spider whose bite can be fatal. But whether you know the two or not, it only makes sense to stay away from any spider you know.
An All-Natural Spider Repellent Spray
There’s no simpler and more effective home remedy to help counter spiders indoors than spraying them with a natural spider repellent. To create your own, mix water with essential oils and apple cider vinegar and apply on the most likely spots where spiders hide. However, be careful with the carpet, upholstery or bedding when doing it, lest the spray leaves stains on them.
Yet another incredibly effective remedy against spiders, pure peppermint oil has a super-strong smell that the tiny, 8-legged insects can’t stand. This means peppermint oil is just an excellent repellent – it does not kill them. You should, however, mix it with water so that you have more quantities of it or soak cotton balls and place them at specific points where spiders hide.
Spiders and citrus scents are enormous adversaries. And all you need are orange peels to keep spiders at bay. Lemons and grapefruits are equally effective, but oranges are probably the easiest to get. You cut the peel into several little chunks, pour them into a pot of boiling water and ensure they cook for a while. Thereafter, let the solution soak overnight before you strain to create a spray that you will need to act on the spiders.
Thanks to its acetic acid content, white vinegar manages to repel away all spiders. You have to combine it with clean water before shaking well and applying straight on the spider, their cobwebs and any other area where they hide. Be sure to use it on cracks and crevices, up there in the ceiling and even inside your closet.
Other home remedies to help keep spiders at bay include spreading fresh leaves of cider or sprinkling crushed turmeric and cinnamon around the house. Basically, plant a strongly scented plant like eucalyptus around your home. Also, clean the house regularly and when all else fail, get a cat.
