Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Walk
In the beginning of May, Go-Forth Pest Control participated in Great Strides which is the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s largest national fundraising event. The participants of the walk got to enjoy food and fun with other teams and walked on the Mendenhall Oaks Business Park trail.
Since cystic fibrosis has touched the owners of Go-Forth Pest Control personally they participate in the walk each year. They encourage their employees to be involved and help raise money for this cause.
The power of taking steps together with friends and family helps raise money to find a cure and raise awareness for cystic fibrosis. Many drugs and community centers were made possible by Great Strides and the money they raise from these kinds of events. Taking part in this fundraiser helps the community affected by cystic fibrosis find a cure and fight through this disease.
Cystic fibrosis affects the respiratory and digestive system. This is a rare disease and there are fewer than 200,000 cases a year. Since this is such a rare disease there is not a cure yet and it is hard to find one. The average person is diagnosed before they turn the age of two. The average range for treatment can be from $4,000-$40,000 per year. This high expense causes many people not to get the help they need if they have the disease.
This is why the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is important in helping to find a cure. With their success they have been able to help families get the help they need when it comes to medication. The research they conduct on cystic fibrosis allows the world to come closer in finding a cure to beat this disease. They would not be able to do this research without having different fundraisers like the Great Strides Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Walk.
Go-Forth is honored to participate in this event every year and will continue to participate so the Foundation can help find a cure for cystic fibrosis.
