HOME REMEDIES TO GET RID OF ANTS
Let’s be honest, ant presence is probably one of the most stressful things any homeowner can deal with. These type of pests are often very large in number and that it does take a while to completely get rid of them in a place which makes it a down fall. Although, issues like this should be dealt with properly and immediately since a colony can cause more destruction than you can even imagine. Some ant species like Fire and Harvester ants are those that can cause irritation to humans simply by biting while there are species of ants that do not really do harm to humans but does destruction to building structures and that sort.
Meanwhile, let’s not forget how ants can be great contributors in contaminating food simply because of how they can easily travel from one place to another, from unclean spaces to edible items. Just like roaches, ants have the capacity to carry bacteria from one place to another. While these species may be small, they come from a very diverse family and a very ancient on at that. Which is why it’s not surprise how these creatures can live in some places as if they own it, and if they act like they do, it’s probably because they’ve been living in the area for as long as you can imagine!
Chalk for ants
This is probably one of the most basic and effective home remedies for ants. One of the main ingredients of chalk is calcium carbonate which is what mainly keeps the ants away from this substance. All you have to do is spray the powdered chalk to the areas where you see most of the ants are or if you’re holding a solid ant chalk, simply draw a line at the entrance and exit points of the ants in your house. While we don’t know how ants are able to detect the presence of chalk and calcium carbonate, it is very much effective in keeping them away.
Use lemons. Lemons and oranges have d-limonene content in their innards which is what makes them repellant to ants. All you have to do is squeeze in the lemon or orange peels that you have in order to get the juice and mix this substance with a little bit of water in order to increase the solution. You can use this mixture to wash your floors with it. You can also use this to spray on your plants and windowsills or doors in order to keep the ants from coming in.
Remember that any tangy and strong smells leave off ants simply because their exoskeletons cannot take it.
