One of the main fact about fleas that you should probably know is that they can lay up to 2,000 eggs in their entire lifetime. And that fleas don’t really have to be living on the skin of their hosts in order to survive as well. Which means that you are required to act promptly regarding any signs of a flea infestation in your home as before you know it, your house could already be nesting these little icky pests. A friendly note, you should check on your carpets, furniture, mattresses, rugs and pet beds for signs of fleas. Even if you think that you pets seem to be free from any fleas, you can never be too sure as these little pests are great at hiding and they can actually be lurking in to your home. Another fact about the life cycle of these little pests is that they can freeze and put off their growth while they are in their larvae stage during the cold season, as to which they can only hatch when the environment temperature is right for them.

Some of you might instantly resort to using home pesticide and sprays immediately upon seeing early signs of any pest infestations. But if you are someone who’s living with a lot of pets and with children, then you’re probably thinking of the ways you can deal with the flea infestation by using not too much chemicals for your home. Good thing that there are ways on you can do this naturally.

Diatomaceous Earth

This particular powder is actually derived from silica which is actually the main component of sands. All you have to do is sprinkle this substance on carpets, rugs, sofa sets, bed mattresses, comforters, pillow cases and furniture. Let it stay on those items for several hours to give chance for the powder to dry out and affect the fleas. After some time, you can vacuum it up. Although you have to make sure that you will dispose of the remnants properly in order to avoid further infestation.

Sulfur

You’ve probably never even heard of this. But yes, you can use Sulfur in order to get rid of a flea infestation in your home. All you have to do is sprinkle Sulfur powder on your lawn and outdoor garden or in other spots where your pets usually hang out.
