Fleas can be such annoying creatures. Even if in most cases, they only feed on furry animals such as dogs and cats, but can you even fathom the idea that they can feed off on you even after they’ve just finished feeding from different animals. Disgusting, right? While many of us might not even be aware of the many ways we are bringing in fleas into our homes unknowingly. And that we only find out about them, once they’ve already bitten onto our skin. Which is quite dangerous like we’ve previously said. If you have a flea infestation in your house, one of the most probable ways it can attack you is through biting off from your ankles and feet – this is because they tend to live in house carpets and rugs.

When fleas bite off from its hosts’ skin, it leaves off a small mark and a little amount of saliva which allows the blood to not form a blood clothing immediately, giving them enough time to feed on more blood from their host. Once the flea leaves, the saliva will cause the itchy and red reaction on the skin of the host.

Now, in certain times, the flea saliva can cause an even more severe reaction on the skin of the host. Both humans and pets can be allergic to this type of substance that fleas excrete. Let’s say, one of your pets tend to have severe allergic skin reactions on different types of substances, once this particular pet gets bitten by a flea, it can cause the pet to lose hair and especially have more complicated skin problems in the end. Which can eventually lead to a more dangerous skin infection or anything of that sort.

In most cases, indoor furry pets are so allergic to fleas that even just one bite from these little pests can cause excessive itching and soreness on the skin of the pet. And if these bites and pest issues are not treated immediately, the allergic reactions can become far off serious in the end and will only cause a more severe requirement for complicated treatment procedures.

Because fleas like to feed off from furry animals usually, this can become a major cause for the flea’s host to eventually have anemia and have very low red blood cell count which can be one of the causes for other major sicknesses to arise.

Here are some of the ways you can resort to in order to treat your pets from flea infestations.

First is to clean up your pet itself to soothe the flea bites.

Second is to use itch ointments like Benadryl on your pets.

Third is to use sprays in order to eliminate remaining fleas on the skin of your pet.
