HOW TO GET RID OF ROACHES WHEN MOVING
You’re moving probably for a lot of different reasons, but one thing’s for sure. You don’t wanna bring in those irritating roaches with you. While it can be tiring to just think about the amount of items that you’re gonna have to move and arrange again, plus the stress of having to make sure that you don’t bring in the extra unwanted baggage with you.
Before you start packing up your things, make sure that you check your furniture and other home items for any unwanted presence of cockroaches and any other pests. You might want to start vacuuming and washing clothes, linens, bed sheets, mattresses and stuff before you move out of your current apartment. If you can, have your clothes washed and packed from the place where you usually do your laundry and do not take it back anymore to the infested place.
Now, how are you gonna pack your stuff. It is advisable that you use clean and brand new plastic bins and lids for your stuff. While you may have thought about using cardboard boxes, we strongly discourage you to do so as these type of containers provide a great hiding place for roaches. Even if you have checked the boxes already, some boxes just already have the stench of roaches on it and if you’re gonna use it, all you’re doing is to attract roaches in the future.
If you’re not sure to the degree of infestation you’re dealing with, it is best that you dispose of or thoroughly inspect small electronic appliances that are prone to roaches such as pots, coffee makers and alarm clocks. These small appliances are actually a great hide out for roaches especially if you do not know how to really inspect these items to see any roaches in it. Do the same type of inspection with the computer sets, television and other larger equipment that you’re gonna be bringing with you.
Prepare kitchen equipment and furniture for the transfer. Be sure that you have washed and dried all pots, pants and other cooking materials before packing them. Immediately store these items in a clean bag or sealed container in order to avoid further infestation from any type of pests. Even if you have not washed an item for a long time, it pays to wash it first before storing them in your bags.
Lastly, inspect the new house that you’re going to move in to. Be aware of the signs and markings of any type of infestation especially that of roaches in this new house or apartment. Once you’re sure that there are no current infestation in the new place, then you can start unpacking your items for storage.
