How To Eliminate Cockroaches

|

When you find a cockroach in your home, your first reaction might be to crush it. And while that's not a bad thought, one cockroach generally spells the omen of other cockroaches, and killing one cockroach won't destroy all the other hidden ones in your home. Find out the best way to handle cockroach infestations in your North Carolina home.

Get Rid Of Roaches In 5 Easy Steps!

If you've found yourself in a battle for your home from roaches, the guide below will help you take your property back and get rid of pesky roaches once and for all!

  1. Identify Problem Areas With Glue Strips & Flashlights: When considering what cockroach control method to employ, you should begin by identifying possible infestation sites. To do this, you need a cockroach glue strip and flashlight. Use the flashlight to locate possible infestation sites and attach cockroach glue strips to those locations. Monitor those areas for a few weeks and the ones which catch the most roaches are the places that need the most treatment.
  2. Use Caulk To Seal Gaps To Prevent Further Infestation: Traps are effective in reducing cockroach populations but they can’t prevent cockroaches from gaining entry into your property. To prevent a roach infestation from expanding use caulk to seal possible entry points including gaps between tile or walls, entry holes, and small crevices. It also helps to use weather stripping on window seals and doors.
  3. Place Gel Bait Stations To Effectively Reduce Roach Population: Gel bait comes in tube form and can be applied under baseboards, in crevices and cracks, and in areas that will attract cockroaches. Although gel baits are effective in getting rid of roaches, they can result in dead cockroaches lying around your home. Another popular method to kill cockroaches is with the use of bait stations which work by attracting roaches to feed on poison. The poisoned roach then travels back to its home further passing on the poison. Bait stations get rid of roaches only partially and pose an issue by leaving roaches scattered around the home.
  4. Boric Acid Powder For Added Effectiveness: Boric acid, a compound found in products like toothpaste and detergents can be one of the best roach killers. Unfortunately, when misapplied your children and pets may come in contact with it. Boric acid is made by combining boron and water. It is low in toxicity but deadly to cockroaches but if used incorrectly it will lose its effectiveness so it’s not recommended as the sole method to get rid of cockroaches.
  5. Hire A Pest Control Professional: Hiring a Go-Forth cockroach exterminator to treat a roach infestation increases safety is a more effective means of getting rid of cockroaches and provides a solution to cockroach control.  It also eliminates the need to have traps scattered around the home.
